Poem for Meg

Meg Chamberlain, although an Airedale, was an honorary member of Weltos and we all loved her. Jan's friend gave her a poem when she learned of Meg's passing over the rainbow bridge and she would like to share it with you.
If it should be that I grow weak and pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done for this last battle can't be won.
You will be sad. I understand, but don't let grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest, your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years, what is to come can hold no fears.
You don't want me to suffer so, the time has come, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend but stay with me 'til the end.
Hold me close and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree, it was a kindness done for me.
Although my tail its last has waved, from pain and suffering I am saved.
Please do not grieve that it was you, who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, through the years, don't let your heart hold any tears.

Meg was a wonderful dog and a very respected member of the gang! A beautiful poem, for a beautiful dog.

A lovely poem. I'm in floods now.

So sorry to hear Meg passed away but she will always be with her human family in spirit. I thought the poem lovely-sums it up really.

Would you kindly pass the following message on to Jan and Nigel for me?!
Dear Jan and Nigel,
I was so sad to hear about the beautiful Meg. I will always remember her at the Weltos events, she had such a gentle majesty about her!
She was so lucky that she had such loving owners as yourselves who clearly ensured and gave her such a wonderful life!
I am sure that I won’t be the only one at Weltos who will miss her?!
My heart goes out to you both and of course to Willow who must also be missing her?!
Thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time.

P.s When I lost Dilys, I was also given that amazing poem. Although sad, it’s words could not be more relevant and comforting.
